Stump, of Pine Grove, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, at Provi- dence Place Retire- ment Community, Pine Grove, with his wife of 60 years byhis side, just a few days shy of his 86th birthday. Born inWashington hewas a son of the lateAbra- ham and Mildred (Brown) Stump.

Marlinwas thehusband of Delores (Teter) Stump. After graduation from Pine Grove High School in 1956, Marlin served as a pri- vate first class in theArmy. HewasemployedbyAlcoa, but themajority of his work- ing career was spent as a truck driver for Marlin Ernst, Barry Bashore and Backhoe Services. Marlin was an active member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove, where he had served as a deacon. Marlin loved chocolate, ice cream and a good HankWil- liams song.Heenjoyedmotor- cycles and cars, the color red, and baseball, especially the Giants.

He hated wearing shorts, the beach and any water sports. Marlin had an excellent memory for Bible verses and baseball statistics. He was a hard worker with incredibleworkethicsandsel- domly missed a day of work. He enjoyed history and Her- sheyParkandagood car ride! Marlin often knowhow to show his love, but deeply lovedhiswifeand family. In addition to his wife, Marlin is survived by two daughters, Sheila, wife of Grayson Krauss, of Pine Grove, and Brenda Ebling, of Reading; and a sister, Rae- delle, wife of Ronald Sher- man, of PineGrove.

ACelebration of Life funer- al service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Schuylkill Church of the Brethren in Pine Grove. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of ser- vicesat the church. Stump January 19, 2024 MARLIN T. STUMP Christine Kurtek, 70, a spirited and vibrant soul, peacefully passed away Jan. 7, 2024, at her home in Pottsville, after a brave fight with cancer. She was born Oct. 19, 1953, in Pottsville, a daughter of the late Stephen Kurtek and Anna (Hughes)Kurtek.

Christine dedicated a signif- icant part of her life to educa- tion, serving as a teacher at Schuylkill County Child Developmentforseveralyears. Later in life, she embarked on anewadventure, relocating to Los Angeles and embracing the diverse experiences the WestCoasthadtooffer. A free spirit at heart, Christine believed in cele- brating the joys of life rather than dwelling on its sorrows. She approached each day with an infectious enthusi- asm, encouraging those around her to embrace the beauty in everymoment.Her positive energy and zest for lifewere truly inspirational. In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in Kurtek.

Christine is survivedbyher loving brothers and their Stephen Kurtek and Janis, Joseph Kurtek and Maureen andWilliamKurtekandAnge- la.
